Taliana was a female human, presumably born on planet Valan III, in the mid 24th century. She was the daughter of Maass, a computer programmer. After Valan III was turned over to Cardassian rule by the Federation-Cardassian Treaty of 2370, the new rulers allegedly tainted the colony's replicator systems, leading to Taliana's death, as well as many others. Taliana's death led her father to join the Maquis. (TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: A Weary Life)
