The Malaya Trunk Line, also known as the West Coast Line and colloquially the "MTL", is the longest and busiest train line in Malaya. Like many other modern trunk lines, it is of a wheeled maglev hybrid design. Being a high-speed line, it stops only at major settlements, letting its branch lines (some of which share the same route) take care of the rest. Still, the cities served by this line are some of the largest in the country, and branch lines connecting to places like Penang Town and Klang mean that a very large percentage of Malayans on the west coast have easy access to the Malaya Trunk Line. On long stretches, the train can reach a top speed of over 500 km/h. However, it usually goes considerably slower. From Kangar to Johor Bahru, the fastest ride takes 2 hours 47 minutes.
