In noughts and crosses, mixed race people were mostly unheard of. The one mixed race person that was in the story was Mr Jason, however, he pertended that he was a cross. In Checkmate it seemed that people with mixed heritage were more common, Jude McGregor mentioned that there were several who had newly joined the Liberation Militia. Some people called mixed race people halfters. This suggests that they are half of something, not a whole person.
