Mean Jean Cattley is a solid worker who spent many years as a journeyman on the independent scene. Seeing his consistency, experience and professional manner, Rip Chord brought him to become MAW's very first champion, working as The Mean Machine. The idea was that he would provide the "rock" around which the rest of the promotion could be built. The plan worked, and Cattley has quickly become one of Chord's most trusted lieutenants, rising to the position of head booker in 2006. As of 2007 The Mean Machine ring name seems to have been entirely phased out, and he now has reverted back to his original ring name.
