The nodachi ("field sword") is a single-edged sword similar to an oversized katana, with a handle of 10-12 inches, and a blade of up to 4 feet. A nodachi's blade is unsharpened; instead of slashing like a normal sword, it relies on its size and momentum to literally fold an opponent under its weight. However, it is still counted as a sword for feat prerequisites. Because it relies on weight and momentum rather then actually cutting, a nodachi is better at breaking weapons and armor and grants a +3 bonus on sunder checks.
