In 1980, it stopped providing emergency medical services alongside South Schenectady when Rotterdam Volunteer Emergency Medical Corps was formed. In 2004, Rotterdam Volunteer Emergency Medical Corps merged with White Eagle Volunteer Rescue Squad, which was based in the district of and originally an offshoot of Carman until 1940, to form the all-paid (career and part-time) Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services, which became an advanced life support agency in 2013 following the disbanding of Rotterdam Police Department's Paramedic Flycar Service.
