Richard Roberts (1847- 27 September 1913) Progressive Party Member of the London County Council elected 1889 1892 1895 for Islington South Roberts was a builder and had served as chairman of the local Liberal Association (1885) before defecting to the Liberal Unionists and serving as their chairman in 1887. President of the Cambro-Britain Society 1889; a JP for London 1895. He died in Florence, Italy, when he fell to the bottom of a lift shaft, aged 69.
