| - The Bijani House of Representatives election of 1953 was held on Sunday, March 1, 1953, to elect the 150 members of the 2nd Bijani House of Representatives. The incumbent Bijani National Party sought a second term in government against an unorganized and non-unified spread of smaller opposition parties. A total of twelve parties participated in the election, although only six put forth candidates for all 150 seats. The Bijani National Party won a majority of votes cast for the second consecutive election, and despite suffering a net loss of 6 seats, still secured an outright majority in the House, with 89 of 150 seats belonging to the BNP. The Social Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party won 24 and 14 seats respectively, and so began their establishment as the primary center-left and center-right Bijani parties, respectively. The Christian Democratic Party and the Alliance of Dutch Voters both saw their parliamentary delegations severely reduced. Just over 4 million Bijanis voted in the election, representing a turnout of 83.2%.
