Originally created by Benjamin Drieu, it was modified by Daniel Gudlat and Thue Janus Kristensen, and is now maintained by Mike Kaufman. Civworld is a modified version of the regular GTK+ 1.2 client for Freeciv, and is currently being integrated into the main source tree. Full editor capability is built in for Freeciv 2.2. At the moment it is distributed in the form of a couple of files on !Gna. The README has all the details. There is also a Windows build available at the Extras download page.

- Sid Meier's CivWorld (short for Civilization World) was a Facebook MMOG. As in other games in the Civilization series, in each game the player progresses from the Stone Age to the Space Age. This time, however, each player is not a separate civilization, but instead each Civilization comprises various player Nations. It is the Civilizations, and not individual players, that compete in four categories: Culture, Economics, Domination and Technology.
