John George Rhodes (c.1830-22 January 1895) was a businessman and local politician. A resident of Beckenham in the Kent suburbs of London, he carried on business as a merchant at Southwark Street. At the first elections to the London County Council in January 1889 he was elected as a Progressive Party councillor representing Southwark (West). At the next county council elections in March 1892 he sought election as a councillor for the City of London without success. Instead he was appointed an alderman, an office he held until his death.
