Coupled with its remarkable maneuvering capabilities, however, the G-1A still makes for an ideal dogfighting vessel. Due to the unique way in which the G-1A was designed, it can also serve as an excellent light transport. Although the stock model can only hold two passengers, the craft is easily modifiable to be able to hold a maximum of eight. Other popular upgrades include better sensors, armament, and shields. Byblos Drive Yards even tried to market the ship as an alternative to the Corellian Engineering Corporation’s venerable YT series with limited success. As a transport, the G-1A has been popular as a personal escape ship. Faster and better shielded than an escape pod, it is able to flee to a friendly sector quickly and save its occupants. As some attention has been paid to aerodynamics and shielding, as well as to its appearance, it is used as a personal transport for some of the mid-level businessmen of the galaxy who want protection but also a sleek and fast ship.
