- Rickles was born in the New York City borough of Queens to Max Rickles, who had emigrated in 1902 with his parents Joseph and Frances Rickles (Rikhters) from Kaunas, Lithuania (then in the Russian Empire), and Etta (Feldman) Rickles, born in New York to immigrant parents from the Austrian Empire. His family was Jewish and spoke Yiddish at home. Rickles grew up in the Jackson Heights area.
- Don Rickles (1926-2017) was a comedian known for his insult humor, beginning as a standup in the 1950s and extending in the sixties to television and films. He was a guest star on Muppets Tonight in episode 205. Rickles worked with the Muppets again when he made a guest appearance on Tony Bennett's 90th birthday special, Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come where he appeared alongside Regis Philbin and Miss Piggy in a replica of Statler and Waldorf's Box.
