A synth or master keyboard which is made to be worn with a shoulder strap, in the fashion of a guitar. The keytar allows the live keyboard or synth player, who is usually rooted to one spot on stage, to move around as most of the other musicians do. Opinions vary as to whether this is liberating for the keyboard player, or just cheesy. Generally, the keytar has some type of grip or extension sticking out of the left end, which contains the pitch wheel and other performance controls. The left hand holds this grip and operates the performance controls, while the right hand plays the keys.

  • Keytar is an unsplicable hand item which was added alongside the addition of Rockin' Pack. One can also be obtained from the Rockin' Pack for 9,999 Gems. When equipped, the player loses the ability to break blocks and push other players by punching, but gains the ability to play Sheet Music: Piano Note notes by doing so. The sounds produced depend on the punched tile. Players can wrench themselves to see the note of their tile.
  • The Keytar was a Hand Item in Club Penguin Rewritten. It was unlocked by using the code 'REDKEYTAR'. When you dance with this item your penguin will play it.
