Loran has long blonde hair, that is almost always tied up in a ponytail, and striking blue-green eyes that seem to radiate this sense of calm. A few years before he met SG-1 he visited P4X-347 with his parents. His parents noticed a light machine in an abandoned Goa'uld Pleasure Palace on P4X-347. His parents spent days in the room and as he walked into the room with food for them. The light did not seem to affect Loran, his father told him he was too young. In an attempt to free his parents from the machine he stopped bringing them food. After a few days they could not bare the hunger anymore and were forced to leave the room. Loran sneaked into the room and turned off the machine. Because of the withdrawal his parents became mad and ran out to the beach. They swam out and drowned themselves.
  • Jal Loran was the First Maje of the Kazon-Hobii. In 2372, Loran was approached by Culluh of the Kazon-Nistrim, who wished to form an alliance to defeat USS Voyager and take its technology. Together with Maje Valek of the Kazon-Oglamar and Maje Surat of the Kazon-Mostral he was invited to a briefing with Culluh aboard his Kazon raider. When Voyager located the Raider and attempted to free Commander Chakotay who had been held captive by Culluh and Seska, the four Majes were beamed aboard the Federation's ship's transporter room and only released after Chakotay had been recovered.
