Magic & Mysticism: the Dark Continent was an unfinished manuscript by anthropologist Sir Adrian Braidthwaite. The final revision was made by Braidthwaite in 1910 before his disappearance while on expedition to Africa, and the book was delivered to his son in the United Kingdom. The manuscript was then donated to the University of Chicago as a gift to the library and Professor Franz Boas and later picked up by student Alan James Mauberg looking to write a paper on Braidthwaite in 1934.
