For years, he spied upon and combated the Galactic Empire. Following the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader during the Battle of Endor, Doran worked as a spy for the budding New Republic.

abstract	Doran Vess was a male Human Rebel Alliance Specforce operative and, later, Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order. Noted for his bravery, fearlessness and ruthlessness, Doran excelled in the Alliance Special Forces early on and was a candidate for high-profile infiltration, sabotage and assassination missions. For years, he spied upon and combated the Galactic Empire. Following the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader during the Battle of Endor, Doran worked as a spy for the budding New Republic. With the rise of the New Jedi Order, Doran eventually became a student after discovering his sensitivity to the Force. He became the Padawan of the Mon Cal Jedi Master Sola. Eventually, he rose to the rank of Jedi Knight. Doran served actively during the Yuuzhan Vong War but suffered near-fatal injuries during the Battle of Ebaq 9, leaving him to recover for the rest of the war. He later served during the Swarm War and up to the opening days of the Second Galactic Civil War. Doran would later defect to Darth Caedus, abandoning the Jedi. During this time, Doran gave in to the Dark Side of the Force and considered Caedus to be his Sith Master, despite no formal or official master-student relations between the two. He later died in a duel between Marrik Quee and Daertha Ollan.
