Sidney Harvey was born as Sidney Janie Gray in Union County, Tennessee, to parents Jasper and Arlene Gray. On 5 December 1900, she married Thomas J. Harvey. After his death, she lived alone until she was 105 years old, when she was diagnosed with cancer. After successful treatment, she lived with her daughter Esther Wagner until her death on 7 May 1995. She lived to be 112 years, 2 days.
