abstract
  • The German sub-machine gun EMP-35 (Erma Maschinenpistole 1935, or French PM Erma Mle 1935) was designed by engineer Heinrich Vollmer and produced at the Erma factory from 1930 to 1938 for export (Spain, Mexico and Yugoslavia). The EMP was tested in the Spanish Civil War. It was produced under license in Spain by the arsenal of A Coruña under the name of WFP Mle 41/44. The French Army and Waffen-SS used it during the Second World War. A vertical wooden fore grip was provided on standard models. Two lengths of barrel were available in different versions, each with a perforated barrel shroud. The EMP's telescopic cylinder return spring guide was used on the Maschinenpistole 38. Its arming lever is on the right. The magazine housing, which is on the left, is slightly canted forwards to assist in feeding ammunition. The weapon could be fired either in semi-automatic or fully automatic modes.
