George Jones (Saratoga, Texas, 12 september 1931 – Nashville, Tennessee, 26 april 2013) was an American country music singer. He has as a solo artist, but also together with other artists, had more than 150 hits . This led to great recognition among music critics and fellow musicians. Waylon Jennings wrote in his song "it's Alright":"If we all could sound like we wanted to, we'd all sound like George Jones." Jones had his last tour planned for 2013, after which he retired wanted to go. After a hospitalization due to blood pressure problems, he died on 26 april of that year at the age of 81.
