| - Perilous Passage is a secret temple level and the forty-sixth level in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, as well as the ninth level in the Cliff world. It is the sixth secret level in the game, and all of the Cliff world's K-O-N-G Letters must be collected to unlock it. It is preceded by Clifftop Climb and followed by Thugly's Highrise.
- The level begins with the Kongs landing on a floor. The Kongs can head to this floor where they can find a spring on a rectangular structure. There is a space between the floor and the spring. Right before this floor's end and the spring, there is a candle that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Anyway, the heroes can jump over the space and bounce on the spring to land on a higher floor with an urn that can be pounded on for a Banana Coin and a trail of six Bananas. As the screen scrolls up, three platforms are revealed, and they are found at the top of the screen. Soon, the middle platform shakes and falls onto the floor. The heroes should dodge this middle platform as it falls, then jump on top of it. Soon, as the Kongs stand here and the lava rises, the platform on the right shakes and falls. It holds a Banana Bunch. The platform on the left also falls, and another platform on the left falls on top of it. Anyway, the Kongs can go ahead and jump on the platform on the right. Here, they can quickly jump onto a normal thin platform with a candle on it that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely before another smaller platform that holds a Banana Coin falls on top of the platform on the right. Here, the heroes can then jump up to another thin platform above them that holds two Bananas. As the screen moves up, the platform that fell on top of the platform on the left's top can be seen, and it holds a Banana Coin on it. Also, another thin platform on the right appears that holds two Bananas. However, the apes should not jump to it just yet, for a flaming Buzzbite rolls down off the platform and down the wall, into the lava. Soon after this flaming Buzzbite goes down the wall and into the lava, one on the left side goes down the left wall, off the second platform on the left side, and into the lava. Anyway, after the flaming Buzzbite goes off the platform to the right, the apes can jump onto it. Here, another flaming Buzzbite goes down the wall on the right. When it nears the Kongs, the heroes should jump over it. However, at the same time of the Buzzbite on the wall on the right, a platform in the middle of the screen shakes and falls onto the second thin platform, which was in the middle. It holds a Banana Bunch on it. The Kongs can jump here. Soon, a platform on the right that holds a Puzzle Piece shakes and falls onto the last platform on the right. The apes can jump here. A flaming Buzzbite goes down a platform on the left, which cannot be jumped on yet, since its top is not yet revealed. After it goes down this platform, it goes down another platform on the left attached to this first platform that holds a Banana Bunch. Soon, another flaming Buzzbite rolls down the walls on the right, which the Kongs must jump over when it nears them (if they are on the platform on the right with the Puzzle Piece, which they should). Soon the platform in the center shakes and falls, revealing a Banana Bunch on its top. Also, part of the platform on the left shakes and falls too, with the second part shaking and falling right after it. On this second part, there is a Banana Bunch. Anyway, the Kongs can go ahead and jump on the platform in the middle. Here, they can then jump on top of the second part of the platform on the left. Soon, just before a flaming Buzzbite rolls down the wall on the left, a platform in the middle shakes and falls, revealing two Bananas on top of it. Quickly, the heroes can jump on top of it. Meanwhile as the apes jump here, a second platform in the middle right next to the first shakes and falls, revealing two more Bananas on top of it. So, this makes a trail of four Bananas, with two on each platform. Anyway, the heroes can simply just walk to the second platform in the middle, since the two are connected to each other. Soon another platform on the left comes into view that holds a Banana Bunch, and a platform to the right shakes and falls into the lava. A Banana Coin is on top of this platform to the right, however, the Kongs should not jump to it right away, because a flaming Buzzbite begins to roll down this wall on the right, off the platform there, and into the lava. Also, at the same time, another flaming Buzzbite rolls down the wall on the left. Anyway, the heroes should quickly jump on this platform to the right and jump onto the flaming Buzzbite as it nears the Kongs, for two platforms in the middle shake and fall. The two platforms in the middle hold a Banana Bunch. The Kongs should quickly jump here, for another flaming Buzzbite goes down onto the platform on the right. However, because the platform on the right and the first middle platform are connected to each other, the Kongs will have to jump over the flaming Buzzbite as it now goes over the two middle platforms. During this, right before the apes jump over this enemy, a third middle platform shakes and falls, however, it is a little higher than the two it is next to that the Kongs are on. Also, a Banana Coin is on this third middle platform. Once the flaming Buzzbite travels over the third middle platform, the heroes can go ahead and jump on it. While the Kongs jump here, a middle platform shakes and falls on the first middle platform before the second and third one. This platform holds a Banana Bunch. The heroes can jump here. A platform on the wall to the right is after this platform the heroes are on, and it holds a Banana Bunch. However, the Kongs should not jump on this platform just yet, for a flaming Buzzbite rolls over a floor above this platform, then rolls down this platform. After this flaming Buzzbite rolls down this platform's top, the Kongs should jump on top of this platform. Here, they can jump onto a floor above them that holds a candle that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. Above the apes are three rows of moving platforms. There are many Bananas in this area. However, some platforms are spiked either on top of them or on their bottoms. The Kongs should jump on a non-spiked platform of the first row. Here in the second row of platforms, all of the platforms have spikes on them. So, when a platform with spikes on its bottom comes near them, the heroes should jump on top of it. They should jump on it just before the spikes can hurt them. Now the platforms in the third row have thinner, non-spiked platforms between them. So, the third row is fairly easy to jump on top of. When the apes jump on top of the third row, the heroes should roll-jump to the far left, since the row is moving the opposite direction of left (right). Here at the far left, the heroes should jump up to land on a floor with a candle that can be blown on for a Banana Bunch. Here, a strange, electric, blue insect not found in any other level of DKCR begins to near the Kongs. These weird, unnamed enemies follow the Kongs with every move they make, hoping to be able to hurt them. Anyway, at the far right of this floor, there is another platform squeezed between two walls. The apes should jump on top of this platform. Here, the apes can jump on a floor with an urn that can be pounded on for a collectible, most likely and a trail of three Bananas above it. On this second floor, a second electric, blue insect enemy nears the Kongs. So now, the Kongs have to avoid two electric enemies. So, avoiding the enemies, the Kongs move to the far left, where they can find another platform squeezed between two walls. The apes can jump here. They can then jump to a floor to the right of them above them. However, the heroes can find another higher part of floor in front of them that they can jump to. This higher part of floor holds two Bananas on it. The Kongs should jump here. While avoiding the enemies, the apes can jump onto a spring to the right of them. Here, the apes can bounce up to a higher floor that holds a trail of four Bananas, a candle that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely and an urn that can be pounded on for a Banana Coin. Here, a middle platform shakes and falls onto this floor. After this platform falls, which the Kongs should go ahead and jump onto, the other platforms (the one on the left and right) both shake and fall onto this floor at the same time. Soon, two springs pop out of the rising lava and float on it, as a same platform. Here, an electric, blue, insect nears the Kongs, and a thin platform with a Banana Bunch on it in the middle of the area comes into view. The apes can bounce on the springs to jump over the electric insect as it nears them. A platform on the wall on the left comes into view, and it holds a candle that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely. A flaming Buzzbite soon rolls over this platform on the left wall, and a platform on the right that holds two Bananas, as well as a higher platform on the left wall that also holds two Banana Bunches comes into view. A flaming Buzzbite then rolls down the wall on the wall on the right over the platform on the right. After the higher platform on the left wall, another platform on the right wall that holds two Bananas comes into view. After this platform, another platform on the wall on the left comes into view, which holds two Bananas. Another platform on the right that holds a candle that can be blown on for a collectible, most likely comes into view. A flaming Buzzbite rolls down the wall on the left. Also, an Extra Life Balloon, with a small platform that holds a Banana Bunch above it comes into view. A flaming Buzzbite rolls down the wall on the right. Anyway, the Kongs must now jump over the electric insect as it tries to run into them, hurting them. After doing this a couple times, a skull Barrel Cannon (skull Barrel Cannons/Auto-Fire Barrels destroy themselves/explode, whatever you want to call it, after firing the Kongs) comes into view. The Kongs can jump into the skull Barrel Cannon where they can fire through a narrow passageway collecting many Bananas and a special Banana Bunch along the way, before they land on a floor with a candle that can be blown on for a Banana Bunch. If the Kongs head right, an orange Rare Orb being held in the hands of a structure, like in any other temple level (however, the ones in other temple levels are different colors). When the Kongs get near, the Rare Orb comes out of the structure's hands. When the Kongs jump to the Rare Orb, it is collected, and Perilous Passage is complete!
