- There’s a lesser version of this spell, which excludes magic damage resistance, nor does it stack with itself.
- [[Category:]] Protection from energy, also known as protection from elements, was the successor to the protection from fire spell. It was an abjuration spell that absorbed damage from either acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sound (sonic damage), at the choice of the caster.
- 3rd-level abjuration Casting Time: 1 action Range: Touch Components: V, S Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour For the duration, the willing creature you touch has resistance to one damage type of your choice: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder.
- Protection from Energy bestows damage resistance of 30/- to each type of elemental damage. Once the spell absorbs 40 points of damage, combined from the different types, the spell ends.
- Protection from Energy is a ritual introduced in Heroic Tier Rituals.[Dr405] The caster protects either themself or an ally present during the ritual against energy. The target may provide the healing surge component cost instead of the caster. The caster chooses a damage type among acid, cold, fire, lightning or thunder. The next time the target takes damage from that type, the ritual is discharged and the damage is reduced by an amount equal to 10 + the caster's arcana or religion check modifier. A newer casting of the ritual's effect cancels the older one.
