After their farm was burnt down during a battle of the Hoaman Conflict, they fled to Coruscant, where Tyce's mother Letteo Jhelum died of an infection. After his wife's death, Kaleb Jhelum struggled to provide a good life for his son and he soon became involved in the business of smuggling death sticks from Balosar to Coruscant. After botching a very important job, Kaleb was hunted down and captured by smuggling kingpin Nos, who personally executed him.
