Wallace Vannay was the only son of Abel, the philosophy tutor of Gilead. He followed in his father's footsteps in his scholarly pursuits and was seen by many of Gilead's academic elites to be a child prodigy. He was a childhood friend of Roland Deschain, but died before reaching adolescence to the falling sickness.
