| - I don't play Magic, but all I can say is this: The game itself like every other trend there is lost a lot of momentum after it's few years of being out. There still is of course many newcomers coming. I can tell you right now I think the thing that still intrigues people today is the fact it continues to evolve and new things are always popping up I know for a fact I will NEVER sell my deck. I guess my big question is is if you think that the current core of Yu-Gi-Oh players will keep the game going with the result being that more boosters and cards are released as time goes on. Basically, will Yu-Gi-Oh survive just as Magic has survived? Also, does Yu-Gi-Oh suffer the same fate as Magic in that only a few decks can ever win given the current rule patterns? Or is Yu-Gi-Oh set up well enough that various deck combos have a chance at winning especially if controlled by a good player? 1. Yes I think so 2. It has last about a decade lets see if we can keep going 3. I think it is set up to the point where any deck can win...it's just people may never use different decks and only if the they stop making cards will it get to that point. I have thought of "What will become of Yu-Gi-Oh?" and I pretty sure we won't have D-Wheels. Well I'm done with my opinion, it's someone else’s turn. But a majority of the people in serious dueling belong to the metagame, meaning a lot of people will use one type of deck until something is created/discovered to counter it, making it useless, or the cards become banned or limited, making it useless. Then they move onto something else, so it could be called the "flavor of the season." The more casual players are likely to have more balanced duels. I apologize if this is all completely wrong, but it's just what I've inferred from lurking around here and applying my knowledge of MMORPG PvP. I feel Yu-Gi-Oh! will live for many time as long as they stop centering around archetypes like Heroes. --Dragon Slayer Decks that revolve around Dark Armed Dragons are all the craze right now. It's dominating championships in the states. The OCG has a slightly different meta, however. * Pokemon makes me laugh, cause its made out of a nintendo game, and its kinda like football.
* Duelmasters is not fun, because its copying other card games, and you cant even use combos.
* Magic The Gathering should have shortened its name, but the only thing i dont like about it is that it reminds me of World Of Warcraft.
* War Of Warcraft TCG is wierd, and it reminds me of War Of Worldcraft. So i think yugioh is better than the others.(no offense to people playing other card games, its just my opinion). Knowing that, on any given day or draw one deck will win against another, but usually a skilled player will win the match against an unskilled player. There is a definite stradegy to setting up and using your deck. And you're right, currently DAD decks are winning, but with the new banned and limited cards, that will change. This constant editing of the banned list and the addition of new cards ensures no single deck will always dominate, giving every player a chance to win, which is what will keep people playing. I quit when it seemed to lost popularity in beginning of 8th grade [so 3~4 years later]. Now I'm a junior in highschool [ 3 years later ]. I recently gotten back into the game. I mean, if your friends play, why not play too? They got me back into it and I only stopped because they did. Also, even with all the new cards coming out, there are still hundreds of older cards you can use to make your deck just as competitive. There are plenty of cards to counter these new strategies. One "My Body As A Shield" will help a lot :p. I mean, they lose 1k, you lose 1.5k but that 3k ATK terror is gone. I think that yugioh is better than Magic the gathering though I like magic, and yes they should shorten there name. -- Dragon of chaos 16:21, 22 May 2008 (UTC) I used to play Yugioh when it was really popular around 2002 and 2003, but then I stopped when people stopped playing in my area. I've just recently started playing again and where I live there aren't many people that still play. I've convinced a few people to start playing again, and it seems like in other areas there are still lots of people playing. I think that as long as they keep making new cards, people will keep playing. It's kinda weird getting adjusted to the new banned list and cards and stuff, though. Lol, but I'm getting the hang of it. This question was asked on the wiki: Yu-Gi-Oh!.
