William Henry Pannell (1843-14 January 1919) was a chartered accountant and politician. Born in Pentonville, he was the son of William Henry Pannell, a Sussex farmer. Having spent some time as a pupil teacher in Yorkshire he returned to Islington where he married Fanny Wright in 1866. He divorced his first wife and in 1883 he married Ellen Knight and the couple made their home in Brixton. They subsequently moved to Lee and Catford, and finally to Eltham. Died at his home in Eltham, aged 75.

  • William Henry Pannell (1843-14 January 1919) was a chartered accountant and politician. Born in Pentonville, he was the son of William Henry Pannell, a Sussex farmer. Having spent some time as a pupil teacher in Yorkshire he returned to Islington where he married Fanny Wright in 1866. He divorced his first wife and in 1883 he married Ellen Knight and the couple made their home in Brixton. They subsequently moved to Lee and Catford, and finally to Eltham. In 1869 he founded his own accountancy company, W H Pannell & Co in Girdlers Hall. The company now forms part of PKF, a multinational firm offering specialising in services for the hospitality industry. He was a member of the Worshipful Company of Loriners, and was admitted to the Freedom of the City of London in September 1874. He became a member of the Common Council of the Corporation of London for Bassishaw Ward and of the City Commission of Sewers. By 1892 he was senior commoner and by 1905 a Deputy for Bassishaw Ward. In 1907 he was elected to the London County Council as a Municipal Reform Party councillor representing the City of London. Re-elected in 1910 and 1913 he retired due to ill health on 9 February 1915. Died at his home in Eltham, aged 75.
