Form XIV: Ikodu, the Way of Reflection, or the Redirection From is the unofficial forteenth form of Lightsaber Combat. This form was created by Uncannies during the Jedi Holocaust. During that time, the wrath of Darth Deimos was at its peek and his Jedi Cleansers were hunting down Uncannies like dogs. Due to the fact that they were essentially hunting powerful Jedi, the cleansers were taught many of the higher forms of lightsaber combat, including Juyo and Vaapad, forms that were naturally aggressive in nature. Because of these aggressive styles, the Uncannies began practicing Soresu, due to its defensive nature. However, the more the Cleansers fought the Uncannies, the more they found the flaws of Soresu. Most Soresu practitioners stay on the defensive until they see an opportunity to strike. The Cleansers knew this, and to counteract this, Cleansers began exploiting this. During their offense, the Cleansers began intentionally leave open points on the body, in hopes that the Uncannies would attack and then the Cleansers could catch them off guard. This proved to be most succesful. When the Uncannies realized what was happening to them, they decided they needed something new. They needed a style with the defensive nature of Soresu but that would not leave them vunerable to attacks when they did go on the offensive. And so, Ikodu was born. Ikodu essentially takes the Soresu form to a whole new level, as there are literally NO straight forward attacks in this form. It is a mixture of Soresu and the martial art known as Aikido. Like Aikido, it redirects the momentum of the opponent and uses it against them, essential, the opponent is defeated by his/her own actions, and literally, by his/her own lightsaber. This form is not one of the official tweleve forms of lightsaber combat, though it has seriously been considered for addition. Even still, many Jedi use Ikodu and it can even be taught to young Jedi Younglings or Padawans by special request. The main reason it has not been inducted into the official lightsaber forms was the fact that it was created during the Jedi Holocaust, which was an especially tragic time for the Jedi order. As it takes its roots from Soresu, it also can be used for blaster bolt deflection, however it take more of a Shien approach, focusing on deflecting the blaster fire back at the opponent. Most Ikodu users do not use the form against an opponet who uses one of the less aggressive forms of combat, such as Shii-Cho or Niman, as it would simply prolong a fight with an opponent who will not be performing many aggressive attcks. It is highly affective against Juyo, Vapaad, Shin Vaapad, and it is recommended when facing an opponent who uses the Grashiim form. The opening stance for Ikodu takes the opening stance from Soresu and changes it slightly. Instead of the lightsaber being held over the head, the lightsaber is held down near the chest. And instead of the index and middle fingers being pointed towards the opponent, the hand is positioned in a "stop" gesture towards the adversary.
