His name also appears in Plimmerton, a delightful beach resort at the mouth of the Porirua Harbour, about 20 km north of Wellington, one of the towns founded by the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company, which completed the railway from Wellington to Palmerston North in the 1880s.
