Frigiston was one of the towns that Tawni Balfour needed to capture to control the Strait of Storms, the other being Yanathrae. Frigiston was ruled by Jorgon One-Foot, leader of a bloodthirsty tribe of barbarians. Jorgon had blocked any access to the bay of Frigiston with a large chain, meaning that any invader would need to approach them on land, which suited his barbarians better than sea combat.

While his barbarians fought savagely, Tawni proved the better leader in the end, and she took control of both the town and the Strait of Storms. But when she started to build ships to secure her hold of the region, her docks were attacked by Captain Swift, who didn't want any other pirate to control the area.
