The Sith Academy of Umbara was established by the Brotherhood of Darkness near the end of the New Sith Wars. One of several academies established for Sith training during the era, the Umbaran academy was utilized for training Sith assassins and spies. Taught the ways of the dark side of the Force, and schooled in secrecy and deception, students of the Umbaran academy preferred to use the Force to kill, and became some of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy. Centuries later, the Sith Lord Darth Maul and his apprenticed brother, Savage Opress, journeyed to the academy on Umbara.
