Retirement refers to setting aside a character. This can take the form of reassignment to another area, Trauma, celestial destruction, or any number of other events whose net story effect is to remove the character from the current action. Characters must have been active for at least 1 month to be retired. Sometimes, roleplayers might be reluctant to retire a prominent character and start a new character less central to the story. Consequently, there is a "retirement bonus" policy. Retired characters produce a credit based on how long they were around.
