Following his pacification of the Sith Empire Remnant and the knowledge Revan gained from his time with the Sith, Revan returned to the Republic space after being honored with the title of Darth and becoming called Darth Revan he returned to seek out the legendary Star Forge but on the journey also discovered the mighty Foundry which he began using both to put his plans for the Republic into action.
