abstract
| - The Deathscythes are special weapons used by reapers.
- Deathscythes were constructed from theosite, a superdense glass-like material that were forged into an alloy with other elements. Heavy and dense, few Humanoid species were capable of wielding deathscythes effectively without the aid of strength augmentation, such as cybernetics or the supernatural physical attributes provided by the Force or the Void. Due to the unique effects of theosite when imbued with Void energies, deathscythes were particularly exotic weapons to the realspace galaxy. Although capable of being sharpened to a molecular edge, deathscythes charged with the Void could deliver drastically increased cutting power, seeming indestructibility, and the ability to resist damage from lightsabers through repelling the Force energy present within the energy blade with the Void energy imbued within the deathscythe itself. The most common effect known to have been exhibited by deathscythes once charged with the Void cryonic in nature. Symbolic to the Charon as a manifestation of the coldness of the Void, trained Savants were able to purge nearly all thermal energy from their deathscythes, rendering the weapon—specifically the blade portion—to a near-absolute zero. Wounds inflicted by deathscythes in a cryonic state often resulted in lacerations with frostbite, cracked and broken flesh, and even hypothermia in the cases of those sustaining deep and untreated wounds. Deathscythes appeared crystalline in their unaltered state, similar to glass or quartz. Once charged with Void energies, however, they glazed with a metallic appearance and shined brightly, with the effects once being likened to the reflection and refraction of solar light. Force-sensitives were capable to wielding deathscythes, albeit at the cost of their Force balance; the theosite from which deathscythes were forged uneased a Force-sensitives' connection to the Force, inhibiting the fluidity of their capabilities.
