A bromide (Br ) is a chemical compound containing a bromide ion or ligand. This is a bromine atom with an ionic charge of −1 (Br−); for example, in caesium bromide, caesium cations (Cs+) are electrically attracted to bromide anions (Br−) to form the electrically neutral ionic compound CsBr. The term "bromide" can also refer to a bromine atom with an oxidation number of −1 in covalent compounds such as sulfur dibromide (S Br2).

  • Bromides are pieces of artwork the player can find in the world of Lunar. They are viewable in the Items menus of both games, while in The Silver Star and its remakes, characters can equip them to boost their stats. In The Silver Star and its remakes, bromides usually depict the female characters in the game, while in Eternal Blue, bromides of male characters are also included.
  • A bromide is any chemical compound containing bromine. Bromides were once commonly used as sedatives in over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, but were discontinued in the 1970s due to long term toxicity. However, they are still used in some veterinary medicines. Naturally occurring bromides are a key component of eosinophils, which use them to poison parasites.
