Manuel (? to c. 1539) was a slave of Aztec origin, who was attached to the 1539 Coronado expedition into the north. He was part of the advance group led by Estevánico. One night, Manuel stole Estevánico's wallet, which also contained his magical eyewear, and fled into the night. While the terrain made tracking him impossible, the conditions were also so harsh that Manuel died not too long after escaping. In 1679, Manuel's skeleton was found by Po'pay, who also discovered the wallet and eyewear, still intact.
