Ever since then, he has been moving up categories and teams, always playing the role of a key piece and captain in his respective teams. The past campaign, he led one of the club’s best generations and with the Cadete A team he conquered the Nike Premier Cup, which was played at Old Trafford, as well as La Liga and the Championship of Catalunya along with the Prestigious MIC, in which he scored the decisive penalty in the final against Espanyol. Currently, he has jumped up to Juvenil B and even though it is his first year, he has become an undisputed starter for the Juvenil A team, who is fighting to win the first NextGen Series tournament – known as the under-19 Champions League – title in history. Samper is a centre midfielder like those of the past, a ‘number 4’ very similar, except for the logical differences, to Pep Guardiola, even though Javier Gascon, Mundo Deportivo journalist, labelled him ‘the cantera’s Pirlo’. He has an exquisite touch, is cold blooded, has good positioning and a privileged vision of the game. At the moment he only lacks physical and mental maturity. This year, Pep Guardiola called him up for some training session with the first team and just a few months ago, Arsene Wenger was observing him. Directors from Arsenal came to the Ciudad Condal to present him with a great offer, to which he said no. Wenger eventually took away Samper’s former team mates and stars of La Masia, Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin, but was left without Samper, who has his focus set on making his mark closer to hom
