He does this by creating a ball of fire in his hand through the Star Pearl Technique. Once created he thrusts the ball at his opponent and flows lightning dark chakra into the ball with the Electrocution Technique. When the ball of fire hits the opponent the lightning dark chakra causes it to explode in a similar way as the explosion in a genuine Landmine Fist. If enough dark chakra is used the explosion can be just as large and powerful as the genuine thing and possibly even stronger. Due to the directionality of the blast, the user minimises any potential repercussions, such as being struck by resultant debris and even recoil appears to be completely negated. In the anime, Gari is able to use the technique on the ground to create a shockwave of upturned earth and debris to throw the enemy off balance. When used like this, the explosion is orange coloured instead of red. In the anime, he also uses a less-destructive version of this technique, creating a puff of smoke instead of an explosion.
