- After a time, Orthus came into the possession of the monster Geryon, a man with three separate bodies, but one head and one set of legs. Geryon had Orthus and a watchman guard his prize cattle on the island of Erythia. Unfortunately for them, one of Heracles' Twelve Labors was to round up the prize cattle and bring them to the city of Tiryns. When Heracles stepped foot on Erythia, Orthus quickly sniffed him out and he and the watchman attacked, but both were defeated by Heracles' club. Geryon was also killed when a single of Heracles' arrows pierced all three of his hearts.
