Synopsis
  • Deadcoil has taken possession of Geo-Force. Terra fights against him, but it is difficult to keep the geomorph at bay without harming the host body. When Deadcoil tries to transfer his evil essence from Geo-Force to Terra, Terra manages to trap the dark presence in a glass ball. Geo-Force collapses and is in bad shape. Elsewhere, Richard Faulkner's girlfriend, Veronica, insists that he shows her the pool of Quixium where he acquired his new look. Richard is reluctant to take any chances, but he brings her to it anyway. Veronica immerses herself in the molten reservoir and emerges with a body made out of blue crystal, just like Richard. Back in Markovia, Terra isn't sure what to do. She's never experienced anything like this. She decides to bring Geo-Force to her subterranean native realm of Strata. The Stratans use their vast resources to heal Geo-Force of Deadcoil's influence. The Stratan mystic Aurla explains to Geo-Force that their society watches over the Earth, and that they always choose a champion to protect the environment. The first of such champions was Geo-Force's own sister, Tara Markov. Atlee is the most recent champion chosen to uphold the role. Meanwhile, Richard Faulkner and Veronica explore the caverns beneath the Earth and eventually discover Strata. They startle a tribe of insectoid subterraneans and they attack them, killing Veronica. Richard goes berserk and launches into the bugs with his new powers. He vows that he will use all of his power and resources to take control of all Strata.

Notes
  • * This issue establishes that the second Terra, was originally a denizen of Strata. This challenges previous continuity as that Terra originated from an alternate future timeline. * In this issue, Deadcoil's name is spelled Deathcoil.
quotation
  • Unfortunately I can't stop Deathcoil without hurting him, which is another of the many reasons why I really hate magic!
