After playing in the Rose Bowl for the last two seasons, and three of the last four under head coach Pop Warner, the team did not play a postseason game, but did end its season on a high note with a shutout over Army before a crowd of 86,000 at Yankee Stadium. Stanford played its home games at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California and competed in the Pacific Coast Conference.
