Extreme Championship Wrestling Federation, Inc. (ECWF) is a wrestling promotion owned by Paul Heyman and Shane McMahon, run on a level almost equal to that of WWE. The first broadcast of ECWF on MSG took place on November 14, 2006. After this, Pay Per View providers became interested in the ECWF product, and scheduled an ECWF PPV for March 11, 2007. Three weeks before this aired, Spike TV offered ECWF Showtime a two hour timeslot on a Tuesday night, a longer timeslot than was available on the MSG network. The first ECWF Showtime episode on Spike TV was scheduled for March 20, 2007. However, in accordance with ECWF's popularity, WWE served up a lawsuit preventing ECWF from using WWE-owned copyright and trademarks. The resulting legal battles delayed the start of Showtime on Spike until June 26, 2007.
