Samus's four pack in this contest was one of the more interesting we've ever seen. There was Samus, Ken, Ryu, and CATS. That's Metroid, Street Fighter, and All Your Base all wrapped in one little group. It began with Samus vs Ken, a match that turned out to be rather boring. Everyone expected Samus to win, and win she did. Ken Masters, while popular in his own right, is not at Ryu's level in popularity, and coming into the contest everyone figured that the only character standing between Samus and the divisional semifinals was Ryu himself. Ken Masters served as more of a measuring stick for how well Samus would do against Ryu than anything else, and thanks to Samus nearly doubling Ken, she looked primed to take down Ryu with ease as well.
