Stronghold Ortikant was a structure on the planet Romulus which served as the home for the Ortikant clan. It was considered one of the oldest structures on the Romulan homeworld that stood at high elevation in Rateg thus allowing it to overlook the city. In ancient times, the forebears of the Ortikants had ruled the surrounding territory with despotic force which was why the great gray-walled fortress seemed cold and unapproachable as it functioned a symbol of the clans tyranny with its walls keeping the ruling family in power along with being secured from harm.

The Stronghold held its own old-fashioned and much appreciated library that had hardbound volumes lined along the side walls from floor to ceiling with the structure itself not being modernised by the 24th century. Gell Kamemor visited the stronghold's library in order to meet with her extended family of the Ortikant clan that resulted in a gathering of seventeen individuals. (DS9 novel: Rough Beasts of Empire)
