| - Marvin the Martian (or Marvin Martian) is a fictional character appearing in the Looney Tunes cartoons. Despite appearing in only five of the original shorts, Marvin has developed a cult following. Marvin's likeness appears in miniature on both the Spirit and Opportunity rovers on Mars.

- Animation director Chuck Jones noted that Bugs Bunny soon began to outwit Yosemite Sam (the creation of the senior director, Friz Freleng), so he decided to create the opposite type of character; one who was quiet and soft-spoken, but whose actions were incredibly destructive and legitimately dangerous. Marvin the Martian made his debut in 1948's Haredevil Hare. Marvin was never named in the original shorts (though he was called the Commander of Flying Saucer X-2 in The Hasty Hare in 1952), but decades later, when the character attracted merchandising interest, the current name was selected.
- Marvin the Martian only makes a few appearances on the show, with only one prominent role. Marvin appears with his protege, Marcia, in the Return to the Acme Acres Zone episode segment, Duck Dodgers Jr., also starring Plucky Duck and Daffy Duck. In the short, Daffy reprises his role as Duck Dodgers of the 241/2 Century, with Plucky serving as his trusty sidekick. Their mission is to stop a matter transmogrifier from sucking up the entire universe, which Marvin and Marcia are behind. While Daffy and Marvin fight over the universe, Plucky and Marcia go off to play together.
- As Marvin was not a major character in the original Looney Tunes shorts, he did not appear in any Christmas productions until the 2006 direct-to-video film Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas. In the film, he appears as an employee at Daffy Duck's "Lucky Duck Super Store". Marvin is homesick for his planet, Mars, and wants to go back for Christmas (though he does also mention that he is still planning to destroy the Earth). At first, Daffy refuses to let him take Christmas off, since he expects the employees to work on Christmas Day. After being visited by the abrasive yet well-intentioned Christmas ghosts, the reformed Daffy gives Marvin a rocket that will go faster than the speed of light, allowing him to make it to Mars by yesterday.
- Marvin hails from the planet Mars, but is often found elsewhere. He is often accompanied by his dog "K-9", and sometimes by other creatures (one gag, first used in Hare-Way to the Stars (1957), being candy-sized "Instant Martians" that become full-size on addition of drops of water).
- Marvin The Martian is one of the main antagonists of the Looney Tunes franchise, created, much like Yosemite Sam, out of the need to make a challenging foe for the ever-tricky rabbit known as Bugs Bunny. While Elmer Fudd was considered too dimwitted to be a threat, Wile E. Coyote was just a predator, Taz was overly ravenous, and Yosemite Sam was quickly becoming just as hopeless, the creators of Looney Tunes felt the time had come for Bugs Bunny to meet a new kind of villain altogether, a villain who is both very clever and who posed a true threat.
