The language as written is often found in the Chozo Ruins in Metroid Prime, including the elevators. It can also be found in Metroid: Zero Mission, notably in Chozodia, a main Chozo temple on the planet of Zebes, and may also be found on the Select Screen of the game. Chozo writing is also seen on the sides of Samus Aran's spaceship in all appearances of the iconic version, such as in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Super Metroid and Metroid: Other M. Similar hieroglyphs are found in Chozodia which might be Chozo. The language also appears prior to some in-game text in Metroid: Other M and on the Unknown Items Samus Screen data. However, the text in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid: Zero Mission differs from the kind found in Metroid Prime. One may be Zebesian while the other may be Tallonian.

This may mean that the Chozo have more than one language, or that their language evolved over time. The only known word in the Chozo language is "Metroid", which means "ultimate warrior." There are destructible ornamental frames in Main Docking Access and Landing Access that are etched with "illegible Chozo markings".
