David L. Greene is a twentieth-century writer who has contributed to the scholarship on L. Frank Baum and Oz. Greene co-authored The Oz Scrapbook (1977) with Dick Martin; his essay "The Concept of Oz" was published in Children's Literature, Vol. 3 (1974). Greene edited The Purple Dragon and Other Fantasies, a 1976 collection of Baum's short fiction. Greene earned his Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania; he was the head of the English Department at Piedmont College in Georgia.

Greene edited The Purple Dragon and Other Fantasies, a 1976 collection of Baum's short fiction. Greene collaborated with Richard Mills on a three-part study, "The Oz Film Manufacturing Company," published in The Baum Bugle in 1971–72. Greene served two periods as editor of the Bugle. Greene was active with Dick Martin and James E. Haff in the early efforts to create an Oz bibliography conducted by The Baum Bugle, which eventually culminated in the Bibliographia Oziana. Greene earned his Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania; he was the head of the English Department at Piedmont College in Georgia. (David L. Greene should not be confused with Oz scholar Douglas G. Greene, his identical twin. Together, Greene and Greene wrote the Introduction to the 1973 Hyperion Press edition of Baum's The Master Key.)
