David L. Greene is a twentieth-century writer who has contributed to the scholarship on L. Frank Baum and Oz. Greene co-authored The Oz Scrapbook (1977) with Dick Martin; his essay "The Concept of Oz" was published in Children's Literature, Vol. 3 (1974). Greene edited The Purple Dragon and Other Fantasies, a 1976 collection of Baum's short fiction. Greene earned his Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania; he was the head of the English Department at Piedmont College in Georgia.
