She studied at the Studio Herman Teirlinck to Antwerp and worked initially inFlanders , including with Dirk Tanghe and Franz Marijnen . When the latter the rock musical I, Jan Cremer directed, Van Marken got the role of Magic Nana. In this role, she fell on her singing and acting talent, which she signed a contract with Amsterdam Theatre Group . During these years she was also the lead singer of the girl group The Dame, founded by Flairck -flutist Annet Visser.

In the first production of Theatre Group Amsterdam , tree from the tropics, she debuted in the Netherlands in 1987 as a stage actress. In the same year she played in Bakelite Gerardjan the theaterhit of that season . A year later she got alongside Willem Nijholt the female lead in the musical Cabaret . After she then played the role of Pop in the musical Rare, she got her singing-acting and dance performances of the previous year 's first prize , which was then called the Pall Mall Export Price. They then toured the country for several years with various songs programs and collaborated with composer Luciano Berio Folk Songs when they have rehearsed for the purpose of awarding the Prize to Ersamus the Italian architect Renzo Piano. Has published three CDs of her own theater programs: In Marble and Stone, Under the Moon (Edison nomination) and Sinatra! She also played roles in the films Wild Hearts, Eline Vere and Iris. After they had children, they withdrew more and more back from the theater world. Yet she was seen again in a musical in 2001 she collaborated with composer Cy Coleman and director Frans Weisz in the musical Grace . For her role, she received a Musical Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Van Marken also gives lectures at the Dutch Musical Academy where she teaches singing nomination.
