Creatures of Rokugan: Third Edition, p. 188 They appeared as large, skeletal creatures that resembled the carcass of a large tortoise. They had a thick caparace and four legs. Minions of the Shadowlands walked beneath the creatures for protection against missile fire. In combat Kuruma Date also created additional undead troops by forcing their own organs into the recently killed.
