The wormhole gets the attention of the townsfolk and the Mayor, who sends volunteers to investigate the portal. After days pass without the return of the volunteers, Tom, Gary and Jen enter the portal to rescue them, only to discover that it leads to an alternate universe where the apocalypse never happened. However, once he brings it home, he begins to be followed by mysterious suited men, and soon learns that the technology people are gathering are being used for a sinister purpose.
