About: +help view   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

Syntax: +view+view +view allows you to have "virtual objects" in your rooms -- objects that can be looked at and respond with the equivalent of Desc, Odesc, and Adesc, but cannot be picked up. This allows you to put more detail into your rooms without needing to create a lot of extraneous objects. +view, without arguments, lists all viewable objects in your location. To put a 'view'able object in a location, add the attribute VIEW_ to the location, and, optionally, OVIEW_ and AVIEW_. If there are spaces in the name, substitute underscores (i.e. a viewable 'oak table' would be VIEW_OAK_TABLE).

This allows you to put more detail into your rooms without needing to create a lot of extraneous objects. +view, without arguments, lists all viewable objects in your location. +view shows the contents of the VIEW attribute to the player. If there is an OVIEW, everyone else in the room sees " ". If an AVIEW exists, it is executed. Players may use partial names to view objects. The name that the player used is passed to the VIEW attributes as %0. The player's name and dbref are passed as %N and %# (and %1), respectively. To put a 'view'able object in a location, add the attribute VIEW_ to the location, and, optionally, OVIEW_ and AVIEW_. If there are spaces in the name, substitute underscores (i.e. a viewable 'oak table' would be VIEW_OAK_TABLE).
