| - The bluegill is a poorly-selling and common fish found in the river. Despite being uncommon at most times of the year it sells for the second lowest amount for any fish at 120 Bells, losing only to the jellyfish and tying with the crucian carp and frog. It is particularly common in September, especially in Animal Crossing.
- The bluegill, more commonly referred to simply as parasites, were a parasitic genetically modified off-shoot of the Trill symbionts created to try and cure the symbionts of a terrible disease. The experiments failed resulting instead in a race of psychopaths which the Trill tried and failed to eradicate. From then on the parasites maintained a hatred for the Trill and by various means attempted to destroy them. The name bluegill comes from the Star Trek: Customizable Card Game, but was likely drawn from Riker's description in "Conspiracy" of the blue gill that the parasites had.
- The Bluegill is a type of that can be caught by fishing in the pond. It can be displayed using an aquarium. It sells for 4 coins and recycles for 30 recycle points. Like all fish, it cannot be gifted. The Bluegill is a common fish type, so can be caught using any type of food, whether purchased from the Food Store or using Homegrown food from the garden.
